📗 Derech Hashem - The Way of God. Intro 3:

Hello Ladies,

This week in our Derech Hashem (דרך השם) study, we explored the power of action in creating connection—with ourselves, our environment, and Hashem.

One of the most powerful takeaways from our conversation was the idea that the more we engage in something, the more connected we become. A parent feels deeply connected to their child not just because of love but because of the daily acts of care and responsibility. A teacher often feels more invested in their students than the students do in their learning. And similarly, our connection to Hashem strengthens through action—through mitzvot, personal growth, and engaging with spiritual practice rather than passively waiting for connection to “happen.”

This concept shifts the way we view responsibilities. The more we contribute, the more we feel invested. This applies to our homes, relationships, and even our sense of self.

🏡 Building Connection Through Contribution

In our discussion, we brought this into practical terms. A key parenting insight emerged:
➡️ Want your child to feel more connected to home? Give them responsibility.
When children contribute—even small tasks like setting the table or organizing their space—they feel a deeper sense of belonging and investment. The same applies to us: when we engage actively, we cultivate connection.

From a spiritual perspective, this is why Hashem gives us mitzvot. Rather than being "rules" that restrict us, they are opportunities to engage and form a deeper bond with our Creator. Action builds connection.

🔍 Shifting Our Mindset on Rules & Structure

Many of us associate structure with restriction rather than empowerment. But structure provides a foundation. Without structure, there is chaos, and chaos often leads to disconnection.

Think about a gym:
🏋️‍♀️ If you don’t know how to move correctly, you risk injury.
🏋️‍♀️ If you learn the structure—proper form, technique, and progression—you build strength safely.

The same applies to spiritual and emotional growth. Boundaries, structure, and consistency aren’t limitations—they are pathways to stability and deeper connection.

💡 Reflection Questions for the Week:

1️⃣ Where in your life do you need to shift your mindset about structure?
2️⃣ How can you create deeper connection through action—whether in your home, work, or spiritual practice?
3️⃣ Are there any areas where you’re feeling disconnected? How can small acts of engagement shift that feeling?

🌱 This week, I encourage you to engage in something with intention. Whether it’s a small spiritual practice, a personal project, or creating order in your environment, notice how action shifts your sense of connection and investment.

Wishing you a week of clarity and purpose,
